Edentulous Patient Satisfaction with Conventional Complete Dentures
Edentulism is thought to be a hurdle for patient’s quality of life as well as for their nutrition. Conventional complete dentures (CD), hence, are still considered as the best treatment for edentulous patients. A study done by Una Soboleva in 2022 assessed determinants like patient satisfaction in CD patients, age, gender, denture relation aesthetic and functional aspects and the level of bone resorption.
Age, gender and level opf resorption was not linked with patient satisfaction in CD patients. Overall, patient satisfaction with upper and lower dentures was related to their appearance and their level of comfort. And patient comfort was related to stability of their dentures in the mouth.
Benefits of Dental Scaling and Polishing in Adults
A research conducted by Matthews and colleagues in 2024 found that for adults with none to mild periodontal conditions, regular visits to the dentist and routine scaling and polishing has significant benefits. Benefits include decrease in tooth loss incidences and decreased overall dental acre expense. Patients with moderate to severe periodontitis, periodic scaling and polishing appointments has shown a significant benefit in maintaining good oral hygiene and reduced loss of teeth.
